Lingerie making, a creative profession

As a French lingerie designer with a history dating back to 1930, Maison Lejaby continues to cultivate its expertise with the know-how of its Lyon design workshops. It perpetuates and reinvents unique, fine lingerie composed of the most beautiful materials, in accordance with traditional practices. A Maison Lejaby bra consists of 50 pieces and 10 materials assembled in 22 manufacturing stages.

Style

All of our lingerie and swimwear collections start with the stylist, who begins by creating a trend board

Sample

the stylist's sketches begin to take shape in the hands of our expert sample makers. This will then lead to a prototype, to be corrected, worked and re-worked and then tested.

Working with the materials

next it's over to our textile engineer, who works in close partnership with our high-end European suppliers.

Lingerie seamstresses

our lingerie seamstresses create the samples according to the instructions given by the sample maker. Our seamstresses have been acquiring and passing on the House's savoir-faire for over 85 years.

Materials and art

Maison Lejaby selects the most stunning materials from high-end suppliers to transform the puzzle that is a bra made up of 33 separate pieces into a true work of art, one that provides excellent support and extreme comfort as well as the most attractive visual appearance.

Lace

Lace

A noble material in which threads are knitted together to form a design. This process of interwoven threads creates the design. The background and the design are inseparable, they are knitted at the same time. The end result is light and delicate. At Maison Lejaby, we primarily use high-end Calais lace.

Embroidery

Embroidery

Design created by working stitches onto a piece of fabric, which is usually tulle. The richness and quality of the embroidery depends on the ratio and the number of stitches. At Maison Lejaby, we use very high-quality Swiss embroidery.

Guipure

Guipure

A highly visual type of embroidery in which the backing fabric disappears.

Tulle

Tulle

Very light, transparent material, made with fine strands of silk or cotton. Tulle is run-proof, meaning than unlike tights, if a hole appears the material will not come apart.

Lycra knit fabric

Lycra knit fabric

Fibre with a high degree of elasticity, synonymous with quality, comfort, support, durability and freedom of movement. Maison Lejaby was the first lingerie brand to incorporate lycra in its bras.

Satin

Satin

Smooth material in which the threads and the weaving technique result in a shiny finish on the right side and a matt finish on the back. A noble material par excellence that you will find in Maison Lejaby's Soie Belle line.
